The Jané Muum has a spacious, comfortable seat suitable from 6 months, which easily converts from forward facing to parent facing, a three-position recline, adjustable handlebar, adjustable footrest, handlebar brake, lockable swivel front wheels, and a large shopping basket. It can be folded with the seat unit in place, but is more compact when the seat and quick-release back wheels are removed. It’s freestanding when folded, and has a useful carry handle.
Available in four colours – earth, herb, scarlet and violet – the Jané Muum costs £279.99. What we love
My first impression of the Jané Muum was how easy it is to set up. I had it out of the box and fully assembled within 10 minutes. The seat unit clicks easily on and off the chassis, and it takes a matter of seconds to convert it from forward facing to parent facing. It’s also simple to fold, especially with the seat removed.
My 15-month-old daughter Katie loves riding in the Muum. It has a nice, high seating position, and the seat is spacious and comfortable – so much so that Katie looks like she’s chilling out in an armchair. It’s wide and padded enough to seat an older toddler in comfort.
The Muum is a lovely buggy to push. Even though it’s quite big, the chassis weighs in at just 6.6kg – no more than many lightweight strollers – and manoeuvres beautifully. The front wheels have independent suspension, so it takes uneven ground in its stride. Meanwhile, the back wheels are the perfect compromise - a similar size to those on all-terrain pushchairs, meaning it bumps up and down kerbs easily, but solid rather than air-filled, so there’s no punctures.
Although we tested the Muum as a standalone pushchair, the various travel options make it highly versatile.
I also love the shopping basket - it’s huge!
What to watch out for
There’s very little to dislike about the Jané Muum, but my biggest gripe is that it doesn’t come with any accessories. Even the raincover – which I think of as a necessity rather than an optional extra in our climate – will add £35.99 to the price tag.
When the Muum is folded, it can stand up by itself, resting on the handlebar, and although this makes it compact and easy to store, I’m a little concerned that the handlebar could become scuffed and damaged over time.
My only other niggle is that the hood is very big, and when it’s pulled down, I can’t see Katie when she’s facing forwards. I’d much prefer the hood to have a viewing window so I could interact with her on the move.
Finally, if you want to use it from birth, you’ll have to budget extra for one of the travel system options.
