I've tried a few and become frustrated with the itchy edges, the lack of padding, the rubbish fit and the very short time it takes for some pads to change from semi-comfortable to soaked and soggy irritants.
But Johnson’s Baby Nursing Pads tick most of the boxes when it comes to avoiding a leaky embarrassment.
What we love
Every mum is different when it comes to how much and when they leak but I’ve found Johnson's Baby Nursing Pads to be wonderfully effective. They’re comfortably contoured and fit well, thanks to a silky feel, soft lining and the non-slip adhesive strip that holds them fast to the bra.
Johnson's Baby Nursing Pads are extremely absorbent and, because of their milk-proof shell, they are leak resistant.
Unlike many pads, they are s comfortable to the point of me forgetting that I’m actually wearing them.
Johnson's Baby Nursing Pads also have a nifty nipple indentation, which is great if you have sore or tender nipples, as well as adding to the discretion of the pad.
Thankfully, the pads are not individually wrapped. While this means one has to wrap up a few when going out and about, the ease of not continuously having to fumble with plastic when using the pads at home is great. The lack of over-packaging – a simple box, nothing more, nothing less – is also environmentally friendly.
What to watch out for
Johnson's Baby Nursing Pads are certainly not the cheapest on the market but the extra pennies spent translate directly into quality and comfort.
Who are Johnson's Baby Nursing Pads best for?
Any breastfeeding mum.
Having to wear breast pads isn’t the most glamourous feeling in the world, so when you have to, you want them to work. Johnson's Baby Nursing Pads get top marks for comfort and effectiveness. They’re absorbent, leak resistant and stay in place. While they aren’t individually wrapped, this actually can be a plus for when using at home and add a little to their eco-friendliness.
