What we love
When you consider that the Koo-di Travel Bassinette weighs less than 1kg, compared with the more traditional travel cots such as Graco’s Compact Travel Cot (9.2kg) or Mothercare’s own travel cot (15kg), it is a worthy alternative if you’re considering travelling abroad with your young baby.
What it lacks in longevity it more than makes up for in style and usability. It takes moments to assemble and with a bit of practice, moments to collapse and fold away into a tiny carry bag. It’s light, bright and easy to clean.
Cameron, at 4 months, has grown out of his crib and Moses basket but still sleeps comfortably in the Koo-di Travel Bassinette.
What to watch out for
As other reviewers have noted, the mattress is flimsy and thin. However when you consider that this product when folded, including the mattress, fits into a petite carry bag and is incredibly lightweight, it’s a criticism that’s possibly worth overlooking. It’s simple to rectify too, by adding a folded rug or towel under the mattress as we did.
If you’re looking for a suitable alternative for a crib or a cot for grandparents or regular sitters, a more traditional travel cot would be more practical. As Koo-di state, this is a travel accessory – it’s perfect for overseas travel or camping with your baby. But it is effectively a stylish baby tent; it is made solely from poly-cotton and held together very well with plastic pins, it’s not designed for everyday long-term use.
Who is the Koo-di Travel Bassinette best for?
Overseas travellers or keen campers with a new baby.
Koo-di is offering a practical, attractive alternative to the more traditional travel cots for overseas travel or camping, and the Koo-di Travel Bassinette works. It’s compact, light, safe and fun. It’s not robust, it couldn’t withstand roughhousing, it’s simply somewhere for your young baby to sleep whilst you’re on your travels. If you’re planning to travel frequently in the first few months of your baby’s life, the Koo-di Travel Bassinette is worth investing in.
