Ladybird has been around since 1938. It does a range of affordable baby and children’s fashion, along baby gear such as a baby walker, highchair, bouncer, play mat, bath set and home safety start kit.
What we love
The Ladybird Button Tree Meadow 3-piece toilet training set co-ordinates with the other Button Tree Meadow nursery and bath products. Michela loved the candy colour of her set - like most little girls she goes for pink in a big way!
The set is very versatile – the step comes in handy for washing hands and reaching the toilet when the toilet seat is in place. Unlike other seats on the market, the training seat of this set is shaped like a potty with a tall back.
The potty is small, yet stable and easy to empty and clean. Its size means it’s portable and will fit in small bathrooms.
The step feels stable enough - Michela weighs over 14kgs now so it needs to be! The set is suitable from 18 months, so at 2½ Michela is a ‘belated trainee’, but it does show older toddlers can use the set.
I tried the toilet training seat on two different toilets and it fitted on both, so it seems to be of a standard size.
What to watch out for
The toilet training seat is made of uncushioned plastic and only sits on the top of the toilet bowl, unlike other models that lock into it. Because it is shaped like a potty, the weight of a toddler sitting on it holds it down, at least it did with Michela perched on it, although she is not a lightweight.
The toilet training seat is bulky, in the shape of a big sombrero hat, so a bit awkward to store away, unless you hang it using the hole in its rim.
The potty is quite small - it was a snug fit when Michela sat on it – so is most appropriate for toddlers in the first stages of toilet training, however the trainer seat is a bit wider.
Parents after something that may not be flash design-wise, but does the job.
Versatile and affordable, the Ladybird Button Tree Meadow 3-piece toilet training set comes in classic colours for boys and girls. While not flashy or packed with hi-tech features, all three pieces do their job, and will span the move from nappy, to potty, to toilet for a minimal cost.
