It’s only suitable once your baby can hold her head up unaided, and to a maximum weight of 12kg/26.46lb.
What we love
I really loved watching my son in his Lindam Bounce About Door Bouncer – quite simply, he had a whale of a time bouncing and jiggling around, and would laugh and giggle like mad once he had got going. Even when he wasn't yet at the stage of sitting up, he seemed to enjoy the sensation of being upright, and relished stretching his feet onto the floor as he bounced.
In some ways the door bouncer was also like a surrogate babysitter – I could actually make and drink a cup of tea or sterilise a bottle while he was in view, safe in the knowledge he was secure and happy for a few minutes at a time.
The Lindam Bounce About Door Bouncer has a padded, supportive saddle, and simply clips over your existing internal door frame, above the architrave. I found it easy to put the bouncer up, and it felt very secure – apparently the mechanism has been independently tested to a million bounces to ensure it stays in place! Make sure you place it nice and centrally, however, as you don't want your little one to bash his head on the frame.
I found adjusting the strap's height straightforward as well.
What to watch out for
While putting the Lindam Bounce About Door Bouncer up was simple, strapping my son into it was sometimes an ordeal – first I needed to position him in the harness, then hold him upright while I securely did up the Velcro tabs around his body on the seat. This occasionally prompted some spectacular crying fits, so it might be easier if you have someone else on hand to help. Getting him out could also be similarly tricky.
Before buying check this bouncer will fit your door frame – you'll need a permanent secure door architrave of at least 0.5 inches wide, and the wall must be at least 4 inches thick.
While door bouncers are great fun for you and baby, some osteopathic experts believe little ones shouldn't be in them for too long in case it puts strain on their hip and neck joints. The jury is out, but to be on the safe side don't leave them in for more than a few minutes at a time.
While this bouncer can be used up to weight 12kg/26.46lb, and is suitable from roughly 4/5-12 months, bouncers do have a relatively short shelf life so think about how much you'll use it before splashing out.
Who is the Lindam Bounce About Door Bouncer best for?
Mums who want to keep babies entertained for a moment of hands-free time.
The Lindam Bounce About Door Bouncer is tremendous fun for your baby, feels secure and is easy to clip onto doorways, giving mums some valuable time to get things done while your baby giggles away. However, getting your baby in and out of the harness can sometimes be something of a trial. And, experts aren’t all agreed on how good they are for your baby.
