A great basic monitor, this is so simple to set up and operate, plus it has a great range and sound sensitivity adjustment
Simple and easy to use, the Lindam Clarity Digital Audio Monitor is a dream for new parents after a digital baby monitor that can be operated through that sleep-deprived haze.
Lindam is said to be the UK’s number one brand in baby and toddler safety. It has spent 20 years looking at the world as a new parent and discovered that “clever little things make the biggest difference”. The Lindam Clarity Digital Audio Monitor is one such thing: a truly portable simple to use, no fuss monitor.
In the box are a parent unit, a baby unit and a recharging dock. That’s all you need, and so consequently setting it up is only a matter of plugging it in and switching it on.
The Lindam Clarity Digital Audio Monitor features crystal clear sound and 120 automatically selected channels to reduce interference within the 300m range. This is far enough to nip outside and to still be in range of your baby even in the largest of gardens.
The most complicated thing you can do with this monitor is adjusting the sensitivity, and even that’s made easy with simple foolproof instructions. The sensitivity of the microphone on the baby unit adjusts, allowing you to get the best possible reception depending on the proximity to your baby and also to reduce any background noise. Just press the sensor button once on the parent unit and then within three seconds press the + or – buttons to increase or decrease sensitivity. After those three seconds the + and – buttons revert to being volume controls.
The Lindam Clarity Digital Audio Monitor also features a comforting night-light and a useful talkback feature – vital for me to talk to my older boys when they’d gone upstairs to harass their baby sister.
What we love
This is a simple monitor with no added gimmicks, making it foolproof to use. The talkback feature provided my 5-year-old with a great opportunity to natter to his baby sister whilst she lay in her cot upstairs after waking from a nap, which he thought was hilarious. My son had worked how to do this himself, which goes to show just how simple it all is to use.
The adjustable sensitivity was a real boon - our house is never quiet and there’s a lot of background noise so I was able to set the monitor to filter out all noise bar a screaming baby Freya, meaning that when I was working, the monitor beside me was silent and not constantly emitting a hissing sound like some models.
What to watch out for
The monitor feels a little flimsy and I’m not sure how robust the units would be over a very long period of time.
Who is the Lindam Clarity Digital Audio Monitor best for?
All new parents after a quality, idiot-proof audio monitor.
The Lindam Clarity Digital Audio Monitor is a parent-friendly purchase. It’s a fantastically simple to use monitor at a very reasonable price, and has top-notch features, such as a 300m range and easy to adjust sound sensitivity.
