One of the sterilisers in the range is the Lindam rapid steam steriliser with bottle warming system. This is an electric steam steriliser that takes only six minutes from cold. It can hold six wide neck bottles or nine standard ones. The steriliser turns itself off automatically after it has finished the sterilisation or food warming cycle. As long as the lid isn’t opened, the contents will stay sterile for up to six hours
The food and bottle warmer is a simple, one-piece design - you just sit it into the steriliser with the right amount of water for the volume of food you want to heat, leave the lid off and hit the power button.
What we love
The instructions are easy to follow and the set-up is simple. The Lindam rapid steam steriliser easy fitted six wide neck bottles - I popped two Lindam Feeding Bottles and four Philips AVENT bottles in without any space issues. Not only that, it sterilised them in under five minutes!
The heat sensitive handle on the lid is great – it changes colour as it heats up, and it may sound silly, but when your brain’s gone a bit mushy, it’s a pretty good safety feature to stop you absent mindedly opening the steriliser and getting a face full of steam!
The cord is removable (good for stowing away), and is a decent length, so you don’t have to have the steriliser squeezed right next to the toaster or kettle (unless your bench space dictates it).
The bottle warmer fits wide necked bottles and is simple to use – it just sits straight inside the steriliser with a bit of water, and I found 125ml of milk straight from the fridge took just over two minutes. I love that the amounts of water you need to use depending on amount of feed, bottle type and whether starting from chilled or room temperature are printed on the warmer as well as on an instruction sheet!
What to watch out for
When using the bottle and food warmer, you have to keep the lid off, which means all the hot steam escapes straight up –watch you don’t look down into the steriliser, or stand right beside it while holding onto an arm-waving baby.
Lindam rapid steam steriliser with bottle warming system, while attractive with its clean simple lines - is large. It holds a lot of bottles, but that means it isn’t exactly compact or easy to hide.
Lindam state you need to do a proper clean/descale of the steel element at least once a week, or else it won’t perform at its best and the guarantee won’t be valid. You can clean it with citric acid from the chemist, or for the non-chemical option, use household vinegar and water. The instructions tell you how to do both.
Who is the Lindam rapid steam steriliser with bottle warming system best for?
Mums after a quick, large capacity electric steriliser that can do more than clean bottles
The Lindam rapid steam steriliser with bottle warming system is a quick steriliser with plenty of capacity. It automatically switches itself off, so you don’t have to worry if you get distracted. While it isn’t small, its simple design gives it a smart, clean look. Being able to use the sterilisers as a food and bottle warmer adds versatility and even more value to this well-priced product. Make sure you follow the advice to clean it weekly, or else it won’t perform at it’s best.
