This is very reassuring for me as a parent of a toddler who has emotionally outgrown her cot. After lots of frustration and forced co-sleeping with our very own kicking donkey, we got her a very low bed and positioned cushions by the open side. Michela proved to be a champion roller and fell off her new bed every night. Fitting her bed with a Lindam Safe and Secure Soft Bed Rail has put an end to bedtime tantrums and there have been no bumps in the night.
What we love
Once assembled, the soft, padded panel with a mesh window stands high and firm against the mattress, looking like the side of a travel cot. Two metal bars run all the way under the mattress, the ends curved upwards to provide a secure fit.
Unlike some bed guards that are only suitable for divans, the Lindam Safe and Secure Soft Bed Rail can be fitted on single, junior, divan, framed or slatted beds. This is very handy when travelling or visiting relatives overnight.
The fold-down position makes lifting Michela and changing the bed linen easier - the lock release that folds the mesh panel is on the external side and both hands are needed to activate it, making it totally childproof.
The Lindam Safe and Secure Soft Bed Rail also can be folded away when not in use or to transport. All the parts can be cleaned with a damp cloth and a mild detergent.
What to watch for
It’s not that easy to assemble - it took me nearly an hour to fit it the Lindam Safe and Secure Soft Bed Rail to Michela’s bed and my thumbs felt sore for pressing down the silver studs that connect the adjustable metal bars. The illustrations in the manual are also a bit basic.
The Lindam Safe and Secure Soft Bed Rail is suitable from 18 months to 5 years and for mattress widths from 76cm-100cm and lengths 141cm-210cm. The mattress needs to be at least 25cm thick and the bed should not be higher than 60cm from the floor, so it’s not suitable for use on upper bunk beds.
You need to leave a 25cm gap between each end of the bedrail and the head/footboard of the bed to prevent the risk of strangulation. All this might sounds alarming but it shows that the manufacturer has taken into consideration all potential risks.

Although not easy to assemble, the Lindam Safe and Secure Soft Bed Rail is safe, portable, cost effective and will fit virtually any bed. It may take a while to fit the first time, but it does provide a safe and soft guard at the end of it.
