Available in smart charcoal and stylish scarlet, the Globetrotter is a great travel companion to accompany you on your hols.
What we love
What I love about Maclaren is how easy its buggies are to use, and the Globetrotter is no exception. I pulled it out of its slimline box, opened the latch and it was up and ready to go. When you’re in a rush, which I usually am, this is vital to easing stress levels.
The Globetrotter is so lightweight. Considering this buggy was designed to be just that, I would say Maclaren has met its brief perfectly. Travelling on holiday with this buggy is no problem. It takes up little room in the car, and I found I could carry it around on one arm while holding a baby in the other. Then, as soon as it’s needed, it’s up and ready to go in seconds. If anything can make travelling with children a little bit easier, I’m a big fan.
Another nice feature is the huge hood. If you’re on a summer holiday it certainly provides more coverage than many similar buggies, even those in Maclaren’s own range. We benefited from it on many a summer’s day walking round town.
Walking about with this buggy is also a joy as it’s so easy to push - I found myself zipping in and out of people with no problem at all.
For comfort, I didn’t think the Globetrotter looked as sturdy as some of the other more expensive Maclaren buggies, but for obvious reasons. It is designed as the brand’s most lightweight buggy for easy transportation at a great price point. That said, Heidi looked extremely comfortable in it and managed to fall asleep. This could be to do with the multi-position reclining seat, which is a fantastic feature for such a lightweight stroller.
All in all, this is a great-value lightweight buggy with extra features that you wouldn’t expect from others in this price range.
What to watch out for
If I’m being picky, there’s no pocket in the back of the buggy to put my purse and mobile – a feature I’ve enjoyed in other Maclaren buggies. There’s also no viewing window to check on your child without peeking around the front of the big hood. But these are hardly reasons not to purchase.
The reversible liner slipped down quite a lot, and I’m not sure the buggy benefited from it that much. It’s great without it.
Who is the Maclaren Globetrotter lightweight buggy best for?
Parents who like to travel light and stress-free
A great stroller at a great price. Perfect for holidays, the Maclaren Globetrotter is lightweight, easy to use, has a very useful multi-position reclining seat and a lovely expansive hood to keep your child protected. It’s missing a couple of little features you find on other Maclaren buggies, but considering the price tag, these are minor points.
