A raincover is also included, just as well as English weather is never guaranteed to stay sunny.
If you want to use this as a travel system, the Primo Viaggio IP slots in without the need for extra adaptors.
What we love
The seat is well padded, so your baby will enjoy a comfortable ride, and there’s an adjustable leg rest, which is unusual in this type of buggy. It’s also nice and roomy so will accommodate a growing toddler.
The seat recline is adjusted via a strap at the back, giving an infinite number of positions, from flat enough for a newborn to sitting upright to enjoy the view, which is enhanced further by the high seat position.
If you’re bouncing around on rough terrain, the last thing you want is for your belongings to fall out of the basket – there’s no chance of that with this buggy, as the basket has a zipped ‘lid’ to keep everything in place. Ingenious. It’s also easy to open and close and is freestanding when folded.
This is a good-looking buggy at a great price – smart enough for town and rugged enough for country.
What to watch out for
At 13kg, this is a heavy pushchair, which you will feel if you’re pushing hard up hills and on rough terrain.
The wheels can be removed so it packs flatter, but while the rear ones are a doddle, you have to take care to make sure the front forks are the right way round before inserting the wheel, and this isn’t that obvious.
The other downfall is the hood, which doesn’t fit as neatly to the chassis as it could, although it does offer good coverage. The raincover is reinforced so it keeps its shape when attached, however this means it can’t be folded and left in the basket – you have to zip it onto the hood and leave it there just in case, which spoils the line of the buggy and makes it bulkier when folded.
While it feels quite robust, a more expensive all-terrain buggy may well last longer if you’re planning on doing serious off-roading.
Who is the Mamas & Papas 03 Sport best for?
Families who enjoy the great outdoors and want a budget 3-wheeler that’s up to the job.
The Mamas & Papas 03 Sport certainly looks the part, and will take you and your baby off road with ease. It’s neither the lightest nor the most robust on the market, but it’s competitively priced so you could forgive its shortcomings.
