Do you need a cot for a smaller nursery but don’t want to sacrifice on style? The Mamas & Papas Metro cot could be the answer, proving size really doesn’t matter!
The Metro cot was designed to fit a gap in the market for a simple cot to suit a smaller nursery. Made from solid beech and available in a natural or ivory finish, it looks elegant and minimalist but is still sturdy enough to protect your little one. Featuring a three position bed base and two protective teething rails, the Metro offers all the basic requirements you need, except a rather important drop-down mechanism, which personally could have been very useful!
What we love
Firstly, and quite importantly, it’s very easy to assemble. Clear, simple instructions are provided and should take no more than ten minutes to make.
We loved how easy it was to put together. Everything we needed to make it is included so no need to get the tool box out. The instructions are clear and simple - handy for two people with questionable DIY skills.
This little cot is extremely versatile, fitting snugly into our bedroom when our daughter Tippi was first born and now looks great in her small-sized nursery. It’s the smallest cot we could find without resorting to a crib. The design is simple but elegant, and this gave us the freedom to be creative with the nursery.
Although it doesn’t have a drop-down mechanism, the highest bed base position is tall enough to lay Tippi down when she is asleep without waking her. This has been critical on those long ‘teething’ nights when only cuddling to sleep will suffice.
It just goes to show that buying a smaller cot doesn’t mean sacrificing comfort and style, and at 125cm in length this cot can last until we need to buy a bed. Practical, and a great little buy.
What to watch out for
The lack of drop mechanism is the cot’s only downfall. As your baby gets older, and the base position needs to be moved down, putting a sleepy heavy toddler to sleep could prove awkward. You will also need to buy the mattress separately. There are various ones to choose from including Spring Interior, Foam and Regular, all at varying prices.
Who is the Mamas & Papas Metro Cot best for?
The Metro is for those who want a small, attractive cot, who regularly like to change the design of their nursery, and someone with dubious DIY skills!
The Metro is contemporary and stylish, can fit most spaces and looks great. The lack of drop-down mechanism is slightly disappointing, but it does have a high position bed base for those early days. Overall, it’s fantastic value for money.
