Pros

  • Lightweight, compact, easy to fold away

Cons

  • Harness doesn't feel very secure, removable feeding tray doesn't attach to the chair

A funky, fun foldaway highchair that’s great for travel and extremely good value for money, the Mamas & Papas Bon Bon is as sweet as it sounds.

The first time you set eyes on the Mamas & Papas Bon Bon you can see why it’s a best-seller and a Practical Parenting award winner. The attractive bibs and bowls design is cute, and the colours so jolly you can’t help but be impressed. But, apart from its good looking wipe-clean cover, its main appeal is how it stores. It’s easy to fold down, slim and lightweight – everything you need in a travel highchair.

The Bon Bon also has a fun-coloured removable tray with cup holder and a 4-position fixed tray, 3-point harness and a footrest for additional support. At just £45, this is a chair that shouldn’t be missed.

What we love

When we were looking for a highchair to keep at my parents’ house, we were looking for something light, easy-to-store and relatively nice-looking. We found the Bon Bon. As soon as we saw it we were sold on the fun pattern alone. It was only when we tried our daughter in it we realised how perfect it was for a secondary chair. It has everything you need for a day’s visit to the grandparents’.

The main selling point for us is how easily it stores. My parents didn’t want a highchair they couldn’t put away once their beloved granddaughter had left, or one that took up too much space in their cupboard, so the Bon Bon was ideal. And knowing our daughter’s penchant for smearing food into her seat I wanted something easy to clean and stable. Even though the chair is lightweight, it feels sturdy enough to withstand any baby wobbles.

It’s also compact enough to take on holiday. We removed the legs for this, and as it’s easy to assemble it wasn’t a hassle to put up at the other end. It travelled perfectly.

What to watch out for

The only downfall is the harness. Even though I’m sure it would be difficult to fall out of, it doesn’t feel that secure, and we have to watch our wriggly baby very closely. Even though this is fine for feeding her when we’re out as it’s usually something quick and easy, I wouldn’t want to use the highchair every day. And I wouldn’t recommend it for a very young baby who could potentially slide down.

The removable tray doesn’t clip on either, it just sits on top of the fixed tray. Our little one delights in pulling it off and rubbing it on her face, which can be quite funny until you realise it still has food on there.

Who is the Mamas & Papas Bon Bon best for?

Families fond of travelling (or visiting Grandma’s) who want a light, easy-to-store highchair.

MadeForMums verdict

The Mamas & Papas Bon Bon is a fun, funky chair that’s great for travel. It looks fantastic, folds away beautifully and the frame feels sturdy. The harness doesn’t feel that secure and is probably not for every day use, but it’s extremely good value for money and a highchair worth investing in.
