Attached to a sturdy solid oak frame, the machine-washable cotton liner forms the base of the Mamas & Papas Cosy Crib, which instantly makes it more appealing than its wooden counterparts and wicker baskets. And the classic, neutral ‘Once Upon A Time’ fabric will look attractive in any nursery.
With lockable casters, a mesh window to check on your child and a mattress, frame, liner and quilt included in the price tag, the crib is quite good value for money. The one feature is doesn’t offer though is a rocking motion.
What we love
Cosy by name, cosy by nature, this is a crib that’s so inviting you could climb in yourself. Seriously, the Mamas & Papas Cosy Crib is so tempting, and as soon as I put my daughter Heidi in it she looked at home. I like the fact it’s made of padded fabric as I find some wooden cribs look a little cold for a new baby. And, being made of fabric has been great. Having a child who suffers from reflux, it’s reassuring to know that in the likelihood of accidents I can easily detach the fabric and throw it in the washing machine.
There’s plenty of room, which is great for Heidi as she was quite a long baby from birth. A Moses basket didn’t last long, but the Cosy Crib still comfortably homes her at 4 months of age with room for growth.
The crib frame is solid and the fabric thick and padded, so I felt assured that my baby was well supported.
Also worth mentioning is the Sleepfresh mattress, which is included in the price. Made to regulate temperature, this is particularly reassuring in those early months.
I loved the mesh window in the side of the crib. It has a flap you can pull down so your baby can’t see you, but if you want to check on them you just lift it up. You don’t even need to rise from your bed.
Easy to wheel round, and easy to assemble, this is a good all-round crib.
What to watch out for
The Mamas & Papas Cosy Crib has no rocking motion, the reason many parents might buy a crib.
It’s also quite large. This is great for longevity, but you will need space. Along with its size, portability can be an issue. A Moses basket you can move anywhere with ease, but it would take a little bit of strength and manoeuvring to do this with the Cosy Crib. However, it does have wheels to move from room to room on the same level.
The Mamas & Papas Cosy Crib is quite expensive for a crib, but will last longer than a Moses basket and it’s definitely solid enough to last for more than one child.
Who is the Mamas & Papas Cosy Crib best for?
New parents after a sturdy, comfortable crib that’s easily washed and fits a larger space.
The Mamas & Papas Cosy Crib is a comfortable crib that does what it’s supposed to, and does it very well. Made of machine-washable padded cotton and supported by a solid oak frame, this is a robust yet cosy option that will last your baby a long while. But, you’ll need space to home it, and it’s not as easily portable as a Moses basket.
