Putting the Mamas & Papas Go Eat Highchair together takes no time at all, even if you hate DIY like me. Go Eat offers all the features you’d expect from a highchair, such as a removable tray, footrest, safety harness, etc, and everything slots together neatly and securely, yet somehow it feels as if it could do more.
What we love
The Mamas & Papas Go Eat is a great-looking highchair, smart and minimalist and in a choice of colours that will complement any home. The 1-2 fold mechanism is easy to operate, leaving the highchair incredibly flat when locked shut and making it easy to tuck out of the way when not in use. The tray also clicks easily into place – just pull the lever on the underside to operate – and when all is folded up it tucks away at the back of the seat to keep everything nice and flat.
The solid crotch bar links to the tray to keep your baby securely in place, and the 5-point harness means he’ll be safe even without the tray, if you want him to join you at the table for family meals, and the padding on the straps will give added comfort. There are two shoulder strap positions to keep your growing child comfortable, and they’re easy to adjust. The fabric can also be removed for ease of cleaning.
When in use, the Mamas & Papas Go Eat Highchair feels good and stable and is light enough to move around with ease.
What to watch out for
This highchair is not freestanding when folded, so you’ll have to lean it against a wall. The Go Eat Highchair also quite high when folded, which makes it look big in spite of being so flat.
The Go Eat Highchair’s footprint when open is quite big, though this obviously aids stability.
You won’t want to remove the seat pad after every meal, but do beware of stray bits of food gathering among the seams and around the crotch post. Another potential source of accumulated crud is the tray: it looks as though the top of the tray should be removable but it isn’t, and the join will be a gunk magnet. The footrest is very small.
The front legs look as though they have wheels, but sadly this isn’t the case so it’s not as easy to manoeuvre as it could be. Also, the only adjustability on this highchair is the shoulder straps, making it a somewhat limited chair for a relatively high price.
Who is the Mamas & Papas Go Eat Highchair best for?
Style-conscious parents short on space.
The Mamas & Papas Go Eat Highchair is easy-to-use and good-looking in a modernist, curvaceous way. It makes a great choice if you’re lacking space. However, it lacks versatility and seems relatively expensive as a result.
