Tiny babies love to feel cocooned, and the ergonomically designed Go-Go-Rocker feels very plush, with thick quilting that will give your baby womb-like security. It has a very soft head-hugger that's ideal for supporting a newborn’s head, and a large, well-padded harness. My baby son Elliot is a stickler for comfort, and he adored the luxurious padding, as well as the gentle rocking action.
What we loved
The minimal design and futuristic frame, which remind me of a funky baby deckchair, are great features. The worst bouncers can be multi-coloured eyesores, but this one looks like it belongs in a chic airport lounge. The cool colour combos include raspberry and grape, sky blue and chocolate, and burnt orange and graphite. The quilted seat cushion is reversible so you can choose the shade you prefer.
The toy bar simply slides up and down the parallel rails – very neat - so Elliot could reach the toys easily. I also loved the cute-but-cool animals hanging off the bar, which include a tiny teddy and dinosaur.
The Go-Go had a lovely rocking action that should soothe the most fractious baby, and hopefully even lull them to sleep. The cradle also comes with stabilising feet to stop it moving. All you have to do is just flip them down – easy! And you can wash the seat cushion on 30 degrees in the washing machine.
What to look out for
The super-modern rectangular shape meant it felt like there was less space around Elliot than in other bouncer chairs. If you want the fancy extra gizmos that arrive with many bouncers these days – ambient rainforest sounds, rattling toys, battery-powered vibrations and so on – then the Go-Go may be just too basic.
As with most bouncers, you can't lift it using the (detachable) toy bar. It’s something that can be easy to forget when you're tired, so remember you have to grab hold of the frame.
Who is the Mamas & Papas Go-Go Rocker best for?
Style-conscious mums who want a minimal rocker with plush padding.
If uber-chic looks are important to you, then go for the colourful Go-Go Rocker. The sleeping bag-style quilting means it's incredibly comfortable, especially for a very young baby. While it doesn't come with extra whizzing lights or vibrations like some bouncy chairs, it is well made. There are cheaper models around with more functions, but then they probably look and feel cheaper too.
