The Nuna Leaf is available in three colours - Birch, Meadow, Dawn - and works on a sideways pivot motion, unlike other bouncer chairs that rock up and down, back and forth. It also doesn't require batteries. One push starts the Nuna Leaf moving from side to side for a period of two minutes unaided, and the gentle rocking action helped to soothe, relax and hold my 3-month-old, Nathaniel. However, at £130 it may not be making its way into all households.
What we love
The metallic base and oval-shaped seat easily clicked together with minimal fuss and I immediately loved the snazzy and up-to-date design of the Mamas & Papas Nuna Leaf. The gliding, side-to-side rocking action was a big hit with Nathaniel, who often feels constricted in baby bouncers or rockers.
With nearly 30 years of making nursery furniture and toys, Mamas & Papas is obviously keen to make its products as safe as possible, and the smart, thick safety harness comes with Velcro pad fastenings that are much easier and less fiddly to adjust than a click harness.
If you have relatives coming around to admire your new baby, like we had, space is often at a premium in your living room, so with one click of the motion-lock lever on the side, the rocking action is halted.
As Nathaniel often possets, I was pleased to find out the padded seat cover is machine washable at 40 degrees and the rest of the seat can be sponge cleaned with warm water.
What to watch out for
Unpacking the Mamas & Papas Nuna Leaf, I was surprised by the weight of the trident-style base and when it was assembled it was very difficult to move across the floor, unlike my normal bouncer.
One thing to note is that you need to use the motion lock if you want to pick up the Nuna Leaf and move it, otherwise the seat will bash your walls and doors.
The Mamas & Papas Nuna Leaf also doesn't recline, so is only suitable until your child can sit unaided, but it was just the right height for Nathaniel to see the comings and goings in our living room or take a short, comfy nap.
While Nathaniel isn't very interested in toys and prefers to look at a light switch or some other feat of engineering, I did notice that the rocker doesn't come with a bar for toys and there isn't one sold separately, which might put off some parents.
Who is the Mamas & Papas Nuna Leaf best for?
Parents who like unique styling and aren't afraid to pay for it.
The Mamas & Papas Nuna Leaf is a stylish, ingenious and unique piece of baby gear that you almost wished came in matching adult-size. However, as rocker and bouncers of this kind are only suitable up until 6 months, your baby won't use it for very long, making the price tag a little eye-watering.
