The Pulse + has the same features as the Pulse - easy umbrella-folding mechanism, lightweight, compact.
In terms of features, it’s set apart from the cheaper, more basic models with its adjustable leg rest, padding on the straps, three shoulder strap positions, individual wheel suspension, padded handles.
To operate the seat recline, you use levers at the sides. There’s a pocket in the hood and a shopping basket underneath.
What we love
This, like the Pulse, is one of the more attractive lightweight buggies around. The colours are smart, there’s a little bit of detail to keep it interesting without being over-the-top and there’s reflective piping (a neat safety feature if you’re out after dark).
On both the Pulse and the Pulse + the seat is padded well enough to keep your baby comfortable. And for mum or dad’s comfort, the ergonomic handles have great padding to absorb shocks.
It’s light to lift into the car boot, and is easy to carry as it locks shut and has a handle on one side.
The addition of the viewing window in the hood lets you keep an eye on your baby or toddler in a way that the Pulse didn’t.
What to watch out for
For a second buggy, the price may be a little too much, depending on your budget. The Pulse + doesn’t have height-adjustable handles. With this feature, the Pulse + could really compete with other top contenders. The seat doesn’t recline as flat as some others, though it claims to be suitable from birth.
As with most umbrella-folds, it’s hard to reach the shopping basket when the seat is fully reclined. To release the brakes, you push up with the top of your foot – while this is not an unusual type of brake, it’s not comfortable in sandals or good for your expensive shoes.
Who is the Mamas & Papas Pulse + best for?
Mums happy to pay a little more for a good-looking second buggy.
A few simple refinements could make the Pulse + even better than it is. It’s good-looking, but without height adjustable handles, this may not be as comfy for mum and dad as it is for baby.
