The Sleep Travel Cot is quite simply beautiful to look at. As well as its sleek design it also provides a comfortable bed when away from home but will set you back £75.
Mamas and Papas’ Sleep Travel Cot has won a couple of Best Buy awards from leading parenting magazines and it isn’t hard to see why. The Sleep is beautifully designed; boasting soft-touch rounded corners and an anodised aluminium frame. It comes with its own travel bag, which is handy when you’re on the move and also features a multi-locking mechanism to ensure that it’s safe and sturdy at all times. The Sleep Travel Cot has a padded frame that protects your tot from bumps and also boasts sponge-clean covers. For a few pounds more you can buy a Mothercare travel cot with a bassinet level and an integral changing mat. But quite frankly why would you?
What we love
The graceful lines and colour scheme make this travel cot a great choice for style-conscious mums and dads. The folding mechanism makes it quick to erect - once you have got the hang of it - and the option of an additional mattress means you can use it over longer periods of time. For example if you were moving into a new house but had to put your furniture into storage for a month.
It also has the instructions printed on the underside of the mattress, so you never loose them – genius! Its multi-locking mechanism means that the cot feels safe and sturdy and it folds compactly and fits snugly into its own, rather thin, travel bag.
As with most travel cots, the Sleep also makes a great playpen when you are away from home and I have used it many times as a safe place to leave my little one, Biba. Holiday apartments and friends’ houses do not tend to have stair gates so somewhere safe to put her while I’m showering and getting ready is vital.
What to watch out for
The Sleep Travel Cot has a folding mechanism which involves pulling the opposing sides up at the same time which can be a little tricky to begin with, but once you have had a few tries it will take you seconds to erect. Make sure you practise though - the last thing you need at the end of a long journey, with a tired baby, is trying work out how to get their bed ready! The mattress is also very thin and could be quite hard for more sensitive children. Mamas and Papas sell an additional mattress for £30, which I would recommend buying if you were using the cot for longer than a fortnight. I also think that it is quite expensive for a basic travel cot and in reality you are paying extra for style.

This a great looking travel cot. It is simple to use (after a bit of practise!) and there is no travel cot on the market that comes close to the Sleep in terms of design. It was a really good buy for us.
