With a backrest recline that lies flat, adjustable leg rest and bumper bar, it’s a comfortable ride, and not just for your baby. An adjustable foam grip handle means extra comfort for you, too. There's also the snug carrycot, a raincover, removable swivel wheels and a forward and rear facing buggy seat, which all add up to mean a good buy. It only comes in black, but if it was good enough for Henry Ford...
The Zoom is compatible with either Mamas & Papas Cybex Aton car seat (£140) or with Mamas & Papas Primo Viaggio car seat (£145), both of which require a pair of adaptors (£25). At the time of reviewing, you can purchase the Zoom (£429) and get the Cybex Aton car seat for no extra cost. Saving £140 is not to be sniffed at!
What we love
This isn’t normally the first thing I’d notice in a travel system, but I have to mention the sizeable shopping basket. It’s a great size! My huge changing bag, which is equipped to carry a toddler and baby’s belongings, fits in with ease. There’s no need to squash it in place. And there’s room for a carrier bag after a shopping trip. It may not be a priority when buying a travel system, but it’s certainly a big consideration.
Although the pushchair feels slightly bulkier than others, this can be a positive attribute. When my 11-month-old daughter Heidi leans to one side in a more streamlined pushchair, we’ve found ourselves veering off in another direction much to my toddler Tippi’s delight. However, the Zoom is sturdy enough to stay on course and hold its own.
Changing from forward to rear facing and vice versa is unbelievably easy. I had no trouble doing it at all, which is saying something! The same goes for exchanging the buggy seat for the carrycot or car seat. The carrycot is very snug, and you know if your baby’s going to get a good sleep anywhere it will be in there.
I used the Mamas & Papas Cybex Aton car seat with adaptors for this travel system. It clicked on very easily and was again comfortable, although slightly tricky to pull off the system as you need two hands to do it.
The Zoom turns easily, is really easy to assemble and looks like a top-notch travel system but without the price tag. All in all, it’s very good value.
What to watch out for
The Zoom is quite wide, which can be tricky when navigating the narrow streets where I live. Also, because of its size it doesn’t fold down as small as some other pushchairs.
There aren’t many negatives to the travel system though I wasn’t overly keen on the Cybex Aton car seat – I had it in a denim fabric, which wouldn’t be my personal choice, and it felt a little clunky. That said, you could choose the Primo Viaggio car seat with the Zoom, if you prefer.
Who is the Mamas & Papas Zoom Travel System best for?
Parents after a reliable, sturdy, comfortable travel system that looks smart.
The Zoom is a stylish, dependable travel system. It’s easy to push, simple to assemble and really very comfortable. The carrycot is snug and, along with the car seat, both click on and off the chassis with ease. Apart from looking good, it’s very functional and although it’s slightly wide, it’s stable and stays on course.
