Pros

  • Comfortable support just where you need it, portable, washable cover.

Cons

  • Not great if you move a lot in your sleep.

From about 5 months onwards, sleeping becomes a bit of a challenge. Mothercare’s wedge pillow helps to make sleeping far easier for a mum-to-be, especially if you have a big bump.

As your bump gradually grows and sleeping on your front is no longer an option. Most mums have to resort to sleeping on their sides resulting in a feeling of ‘overhang’. But investing in a support like the Mothercare Wedge Pillow can make a real difference. It can be used under your growing bump from around 16 weeks and is made from 100% foam. This no-frills product is also very cheap – ideal as it will only really be needed until birth.

What we love
My Mothercare Wedge pillow helped me get a good night’s sleep when I was pregnant. Before I bought the pillow I found lying on my side the most comfortable position, but I felt as though my bump was hanging in mid air. This was when a friend recommended the wedge pillow. Shaped like a wedge of cheese, you simply put this under your bump. It supports the weight of the baby and means you can relax in a natural position. Many mums online say this is the best thing they have tried and for just under £10 it is great value for money.

The simple design is really effective in relieving pressure on your back. The cover is removable and machine washable and the pillow itself is really light and doesn’t take up much room. I used to take it to hotels when I was working away from home as it was small enough to fit in my overnight bag. Mind you, I think I would have felt a little self-conscious walking through reception with a large body pillow!

What to watch out for

If you turn from side to side in your sleep, you have to remember or be conscious enough to take the wedge with you!

Who is the Mothercare Wedge Pillow best for?

The Mothercare Wedge Pillow is recommended to every mum to be.
