For sterilising more than one bottles, you need to increase the heating time, but for one bottle when you’re out, this really is a very simple, effective way of doing it.
The Mothercare Steriliser Bottle has a non-slip base, a wide neck for easy filling and is designed with an easy grip for safety and up-close feeding. It’s also BPA free and at £9.99 for three (or £3.99 for one), it’s great value for money.
What we love
I love anything that makes my life as a mum easier, and the Mothercare Steriliser Bottles do just that. I’m very conscious about sterilising my baby’s bottles as near to feeding time as possible, but if you’re out and about for the day or on holiday this can be quite difficult. So, when I heard about these self-sterilising bottles, I was more than ready to try them. I’ve tried a few similar products before but have never got on with them. That is, until I discovered these.
With no need for a big steriliser, I can just pop two or three of these in my changing bag with no problem at all. Of course, you’ll need to be able to gain access to a microwave, but that hasn’t been a problem for me yet.
When out I simply take the bottle, put the water in the cap, assemble the bottle as shown on the instructions and pop it in the microwave. Done. It’s not fussy to do, and the handy tongs Mothercare puts in each bottle are great for assembling with complete peace of mind that the bottles are as clean as they can be. If you’re not ready to feed your baby straightaway you can assemble your bottle differently and place a disc over the bottom of the teat to protect it until you’re ready to use it. All of this is explained in the very simple instructions.
The Mothercare Steriliser Bottle could have been a life-saver in previous situations. Once delayed at an airport, I scalded myself trying to pour boiling water over my baby’s bottle. And staying at a hotel overnight proved difficult when I had to haul my big steriliser down six flights of stairs and then stand there for six minutes while I waited for it to sterilise – in my pyjamas!
The Mothercare Steriliser Bottle is easy to use, quick to sterilise and good quality. In the past, I’ve found some sterilising ‘out and about’ options not up to scratch. Either the teats haven’t been very good or they have been too fiddly.
My youngest, Heidi, fed very well from the bottle. The teat is very much like my usual brand of bottles so it was easy for her to get used to.
And finally, the bottle is BPA free!
What to watch out for
There really isn’t much to dislike about the Mothercare Steriliser Bottle. My only concern is that they’re not anti-colic, but by the time I got used to travelling around with two children, my youngest daughter was a bit older anyway so it wasn’t a problem.
As with any bottle, you’ll need to buy the bigger teats separately as the pack comes with a 0+ month teat only.
Who is the Mothercare Steriliser Bottle best for?
Mums who like to be out and about, after peace of mind that their bottles are freshly sterilised.
The Mothercare Steriliser Bottle is a fantastic self-sterilising bottle that‘s easy to assemble, good quality and quick to sterilise. With its own individual tongs, you can have complete peace of mind about cleanliness wherever you are, as long as you’re near a microwave!
