In a nutshell

A handy feeding solution at a good price. However, if you have an older toddler, the waist strap might be a bit of a squeeze.

Pros

  • Durable, compact, easy to wipe clean, good value, adjustable height

Cons

  • Due to adjustable height seat it's heavier than some other similar seats, harness strap position may not accommodate a larger/older toddler that well

If you’re looking for a foldable travel feeding seat, the Munchkin Travel Booster Seat is good value. It is compact, easy to assemble, and features a 3-point harness. It also has the added bonus of an easily adjustable height base. However, the harness mightn’t be big enough for older toddlers.

The Munchkin Travel Booster Seat has a recommended retail price of £19.99. As with most things, it is worth shopping around for the best price, as at the time of writing, I’ve found this feeding seat for £25 at one retailer and £15 at another.

The incredibly compact if a little weighty travel bag transforms into a booster seat easily, with the added benefit of an inner pocket for feeding/travel accessories. It has a really smart green and black outer case with a bright inner lining that is hard wearing and easy to wipe clean. It has a 3-point harness and the additional benefit of the adjustable height base (two positions). It’s suitable for use from 12 months.

What we love

It’s easy to fasten, which is essential when the last highchair in the coffee shop has been taken and you are left holding your little one with one hand and desperately trying to lasso the booster seat to the chair with the other!

The storage section in the base of the seat is fantastic. There is enough room for nappies and wipes, so if you wanted to travel light, this bag is all you may need. It has a useful over the shoulder strap too.

The majority of reviews I have read are all incredibly positive and I can’t disagree.

What to watch out for

One drawback is the position and length of the waist strap. My sons are 2 and 2 ½ and can’t sit comfortably in the Munchkin Booster Seat strapped in. The waist strap is positioned quite close to the back support, leaving little room for a child’s bottom (11cm from back support to ‘t’ strap). Not an issue perhaps when your toddler is young but something to consider for older or larger toddlers.

I’ve noticed more than one review on the web saying that the straps have broken not long after the booster seat had been purchased. This hasn’t happened to ours - on the contrary, our seat has been durable and robust, but perhaps something to be aware of.

Who is the Munchkin Travel Booster Seat best for?

For parents with young toddlers who want to eat away from home.

MadeForMums verdict

With its excellent price point, ease of use and smart looks, the Munchkin Booster Seat has a lot going for it. The extra storage space in the base is not unique to the type, but Munckin’s is far roomier than others. The cover isn’t machine washable but the material is resilient enough that it can be easily wiped clean. Due to the waist strap size and position, it’s probably at its best with young tots – for older toddlers, it might be a bit of a squeeze.
