Pros

  • Simple put-up and foldaway mechanism, comfortable, secure, stylish

Cons

  • Nooks and crannies for crumbs

A highchair that doesn’t even need assembling, just one movement and it’s up and ready to use, the My Child Tiko Highchair is simplicity at its best.

The My Child Tiko Highchair, available in the UK through Kooltrade, is perfect for travel and storage, and it looks pretty plush, too. It travels well and saves space, as its simple design means it can be put up and down easily.

The My Child Tiko Highchair has all the features you would expect from a highchair, and a little bit more. Boasting a very comfortable faux leather seat available in three funky colours, a 5-point safety harness, a footrest, a sturdy base and a large removable tray, it’s everything you could want in a basic highchair.

What we love

As a busy mum I love all things uncomplicated, which is exactly what the My Child Tiko Highchair is all about. It does what it’s supposed to without fuss.

Putting the My Child Tiko Highchair up is a pleasure. As soon as I saw the small set of instructions I knew this was my kind of highchair. You simply release the catch, pull it open and it’s ready to go. In all the highchairs I’ve tried I haven’t come across one that’s so easy to set up, which in my eyes is a big plus. And of course, it’s just as easy to put down. So, if you don’t want your highchair to be on constant display this is a great option.

Once the My Child Tiko Highchair is up, and the tray is fitted I could slide my daughter Tippi in effortlessly. She seemed very snug, and unlike other freestanding travel highchairs, it’s very secure. The straps fit well, which is quite important with a baby averse to restraint, and the base is just wide enough for the highchair to feel safe.

I adore the deep chocolate brown cover. It looks fantastic at our kitchen table, and Tippi found the faux leather very homely. I imagine this classic design would look good in many dining rooms and kitchens.

All in all, this is a great highchair. It does everything it should, and does it well. I think it’s a high-quality, sensible purchase.

What to watch out for

Like many highchairs the cover of the My Child Tiko Highchair can only be sponge cleaned with mild detergent. This is fine, but you might need a bit of elbow grease where the crumbs accumulate round the edges.

If you are buying it as a second highchair it may be slightly pricey but I would say it’s worth it even just for the simple folding mechanism.

MadeForMums verdict

A practical, stylish highchair that’s idiot-proof when it comes to putting up and folding away. The My Child Tiko Highchair performs all the basic functions extremely well, and would be great as a travel or second highchair, although it may be slightly expensive for that use.
