Excellent all-natural product at a supermarket own brand price.
Last year glowing reviews on parenting websites sparked a buying frenzy of Waitrose's Baby Bottom Butter. But it wasn't the babies who were impressed.
Waitrose's own-brand Baby Bottom Butter caused a stir when mums on an internet networking site raved about it as an effective facial moisturiser, causing Waitrose to sell out of the product across many of its stores.
Dermatologically tested, Baby Bottom Butter is free from artificial colours, fragrances and preservatives, parabens, petrochemicals, and sodium lauryl sulphate made instead with natural ingredients including olive and chamomile oils,
What we love
The texture is more waxy than creamy (it's “bottom butter”, not “cream”, after all), but it feels nice and rubs in easily (both on my son's bottom and my face). It smells divine: I think white chocolate, my 5-year-old says ice-cream (either way, I've picked it up just to sniff on more than one occasion). The packaging is simple, but modern and attractive.
What to watch out for
I don't like nappy cream in a pot. I know it's the traditional packaging for nappy cream, but it seems a little unhygienic going from pot to bot and back again. Because the vanilla scent is so strong, you might want to avoid if you're not a vanilla fan. It's also quite greasy, but that's probably more of an issue for the mum's face than the baby's bottom.
Who is Baby Bottom Butter best for?
Mums looking for natural, versatile, chemical-free products on a budget.
While it may be too greasy for some, Waitrose's Baby Bottom Butter is a lovely, versatile, natural product at a bargain price.
