A good night's sleep becomes very elusive during late pregnancy and in those early weeks as a new parent. But to help us mums achieve at least a little slumber, pregnancy support pillows are on hand to help. And the market is filled with various options, from wedges to L-shapes to sausages that offer support in any sleep position and suit any budget.
The Noordi 2-in-1 Deluxe Baby Nest + Maternity Pillow is a deluxe product created by Nordic brand Noordi, which specialises in innovative design and aims to for optimal balance and comfort for all the products. One of their key objectives is sustainability, and they manufacture in eco-friendlier ways, using more natural materials.
The main selling point of the Noordi 2-in-1 Deluxe Baby Nest + Maternity pillow is its that not only can it be used during pregnancy, it transforms easily into a cosy, secure baby nest where your baby can sleep, rest, co-sleep, play and have tummy time. Retailing at £119.95, this makes it a really cost effective product, especially when you consider one of the best-selling baby pods DockATot Deluxe + costs £150, while a premium pregnancy pillow like the BBHug Me also costs £150.
In recent years, baby nests/sleeping pods have grown in popularity amongst mums as they are highly regarded for helping babies settle down for a nap. However, there is still wide-ranging debate on their safety regarding overnight and unsupervised sleeping. And while The Lullaby Trust says baby nests and pods do not meet safer sleep guidelines, there hasn’t been any evidence of reported cases of babies’ deaths involving a sleeping pod or nest used outside a parent’s bed.
There have been seven non-UK cases where a baby had died while co-sleeping in their parents’ bed when sleeping in a pod or nest. Medical reports suggested the deaths were linked to bed sharing rather than the nest. You can read more of about the possible risks and safe sleeping guidelines here.
Tested by
Lynn is a first-time mum who began testing the Noordi 2-in-1 Deluxe Baby Nest + Maternity pillow at 37 weeks pregnant, having experienced hip bursitis in her 3rd trimester. She continued to test the product in baby nest mode once her daughter Mia was born.
First impressions
I was intrigued to see how Noordi had integrated a maternity pillow and a baby pod together – two must-have mother and baby items, in my opinion. At first sight, it looked very similar to other baby nest products on the market; however, on closer inspection, there was a zip attaching the cushion around the nest, which, when unzipped, became the maternity pillow for mums-to-be.
It comes with a plastic covering, making it easy to store when it isn’t in use. And in case of any little accidents, it comes with an additional cushion cover for a quick change (although, changing the cover did prove slightly fiddly).
How easy is it to use the Noordi 2-in-1 Deluxe Baby Nest + Maternity pillow?
On seeing the Noordi 2-in-1 Deluxe Baby Nest + Maternity pillow, it is fairly self-explanatory; however, it comes with some basic instructions for detaching the maternity pillow from the nest and changing the cushion cover.
The hardest part I found was changing the cover after Mia had a toilet accident while I was changing her. It was very fiddly, and I struggled to fit the whole nest into the cover. There must be a special knack that I don’t have!
How comfortable is the Noordi 2-in-1 as a maternity pillow?
The maternity pillow didn’t look as comfortable or durable as the other ones I had used throughout my pregnancy. I didn’t find it overly comfortable; while it is soft, I felt it was too slim and didn’t offer the support I needed while sleeping, especially in the 3rd trimester.
I also tried to use it after my c-section birth, to offer more comfort for sleep, but I still found it didn’t quite meet my needs. I felt it was more suitable for placing between your knees in a horseshoe shape to help reduce swelling in the feet.
How comfortable does the Noordi 2-in-1 seem as a baby nest?
As a baby nest, it is fabulous. Mia first napped on it at just one day old and instantly loved it. Its unique design was created to mimic the womb, and it gave Mia a feeling of safety.
The pillow is soft, with a firm nest for the baby’s comfort and the cover is made of 100% cotton. It is also worth mentioning that it is OEKO-TEX Standard 100, one of the world’s best-known labels for textiles tested for harmful substances – it stands for customer confidence and high product safety. As a nervous first-time mum, I had no concerns about testing this product for supervised naps.
What other features do you like about the Noordi 2-in-1 Deluxe Baby Nest + Maternity pillow?
The inner cotton fabrics of the pillow also have SILVER-IONS technology, a silver-based active ingredient incorporated into textiles to ensure protection from bacteria.
We also use it as a changing station for her, and during her first week, we had to travel, and the nest was invaluable for our trip because it’s so light, portable and easy to travel with and has a carry handle.
How much room does it take up?
Not much room at all. It is slim and folds around in a horseshoe shape, so it can easily fit into a small gap – unlike many other large maternity pillows. It is also reasonably squishy, which helps when stored away.
And if you don’t want to leave it out when it isn’t in use, you can fold it back into its cover.
How big is the Noordi 2-in-1 Deluxe Baby Nest + Maternity pillow?
- Dimensions of the pregnancy pillow: 210 x 15cm
- Inner dimensions of baby nest: 26 x 60cm
- External dimensions of baby nest: 46 x 76cm
Does the Noordi 2-in-1 Deluxe Baby Nest + Maternity pillow aid sleep?
As a pregnancy pillow, it aided my sleep a little bit. I feel it was too slim; I prefer a huge V-shaped pillow in which I can get my whole body comfortable. However, maternity pillows are subjective, and what suits one pregnant lady doesn’t suit another.
The pillow has undoubtedly aided Mia's sleep; she instantly felt safe and cosy on the nest and is a very relaxed baby when using it. This is great for me; I can supervise her naps while catching up on housework and take her from room to room with me because the pillow is so light and portable.
Is the Noordi 2-in-1 Deluxe Baby Nest + Maternity pillow machine-washable?
Yes, you can wash the cover at 30 degrees.
Can you use it with the baby or as a tummy-time pillow?
Yes, it says in the instructions the Noordi 2-in-1 can be used for tummy time, and Mia and I use it a couple of times a day for this specific use. Once she grows a little more, we’ll be able to use the pillow to help her sit up or lean on, so it’s an excellent product for the first 6 months of a baby’s life.
What’s in the box?
- Pillow
- Spare cover
- Basic usage and care instructions
Do you need any extra accessories?
No, but you can buy a standard product version for a lower price of £99. The standard version isn’t OEKO-TEX Standard 100 and doesn’t have SILVER-IONS technology.
What would you have wanted to know before purchasing Noordi 2-in-1 Deluxe Baby Nest + Maternity pillow?
Whether it really is was as multifunctional as it claims (in my opinion it's a great baby nest but not the most comfortable maternity pillow) and reviews from other mums who had successfully used it.
Would you recommend it?
Yes, as a baby nest, it is fabulous. And price-wise, it is very competitive. From its high-quality finish, it’s easy to see why this is a premium product.
Who would the Noordi 2-in-1 Deluxe Baby Nest + Maternity pillow be most useful for?
The maternity pillow aspect of the Noordi can be used at any stage during pregnancy, and it offers support from your head down to your bump. It can also be used as a back support or placed under the legs to help prevent swelling in the feet.
It’s also great for new mums and dads seeking uninterrupted daytime naps on a light, portable, and easily transportable product.
What age is the Noordi 2-in-1 Deluxe Baby Nest + Maternity pillow suitable for?
The sleep nest aspect is suitable for babies from birth to 6 months and has multiple uses, from nap times to a changing station.
Is the Noordi 2-in-1 Deluxe Baby Nest + Maternity pillow value for money?
Absolutely. For me, it certainly offers value for money for a successful baby sleep product. However, I recommend buying it for a baby nest rather than using it as a maternity pillow.

MadeForMums verdict:
If you’re looking for a maternity pillow specifically to ease the strain pregnancy is putting on your body and to allow for a good night’s sleep, I would personally opt for a straight maternity pillow. However, if you’re looking for a baby nest for your newborn, this one is a fantastic investment. The nest comes at two price points, allowing for more budget flexibility, and you can’t put a price on having a happy, relaxed baby. I highly recommend it if you’re looking for a comfortable, portable, light sleep pod for your child.
