With an infra-red camera you can keep an eye on your child at all times, giving you the peace of mind you’d expect from a video monitor. There’s also the ability to add two additional cameras.
The Nscessity 2.4-inch Digital Wireless Camera Monitor also features an auto shut-off function for when your child’s sleeping soundly and a soft nightlight on the baby unit, which can only be activated from the baby unit.
What we love
I like how compact and unobtrusive the parent unit is. The screen is small but you can still see your child in complete darkness, thanks to the infra-red camera. This means I don’t have to rush in at every slight sound my baby makes as I can see if she’s just settling herself back to sleep.
Simplicity is key with Nscessity 2.4-inch Digital Wireless Camera Monitor. It does what it’s supposed to and isn’t too fussy. Setting it up is uncomplicated, and because there’s not too many functions you don’t have to spend time fiddling with different settings. It’s just a matter of turning it on!
The main selling point is its huge range, bigger than many major competitors. But, this is an open-field range. We don’t have too many floors or a particularly big house so I find the range is pretty good. I also like the fact you can use the antenna to boost reception.
I particularly like the flip-up screen, which means I can position it just right so I don’t have to keep straining my neck to check on Heidi. After a hard day looking after two children this is a small blessing.
You can use the monitor as just an audio one too, if you want a break from watching your children 24/7.
What to watch out for
The range is said to reach 300m, but this may not apply to a built-up area.
Although the monitor comes with Li-ion rechargeable batteries, if you want to replace them you can only buy them from Nscessity.
I think the Nscessity 2.4-inch Digital Wireless Camera Monitor is quite expensive for what it is. It lacks little touches like a zoom function to take a closer look at your baby, temperature display and a talk-back facility. It’s a great little product but it doesn’t wow me enough to justify the price tag.
Who is the Nscessity 2.4-inch Digital Wireless Camera Monitor best for?
Parents after a straightforward video monitor, with little need for extra features.
This is a compact digital video monitor that stands out amongst others because of its huge monitoring range, though do be aware that this may not apply to a built-up area. Clever features include a flip-up screen and an antenna to boost reception, although it lacks features such as talk-back, making it a bit pricey for what it is.
