As we mentioned earlier, you can still get your hands on some Petite Star products and buggies and even spares that are floating around on the internet.
With all secondhand products there's guidelines you should check before buying.
Based on the well known 3-wheeler Zia, the Petite Star Zia4 not only has an extra wheel, but the ability to become a travel system if you purchase the matching Petite Star car seat, or a pram-like set-up, if you buy the matching Petite Star Cocoon (carrycot). Adding the car seat or carrycot also allows you to have your baby facing you. Without them, the buggy is forward facing only, which not all parents will like for their newborn.
One of the big plus points of the Petite Star Zia4 is its low weight, which should mean you don’t have to trade it in for a lighter option to get through the toddler years.
What we love
When test driving the Zia4, I found it was lightweight, responsive, comfortable and easy to steer.
The Zia4 buggy has lots of clever features. When collapsed, it’s very compact and light. It’s very quick, simple and easy to use. The raincover fits well and it’s easy to adjust the seat recline even when your child’s in the buggy.
The best thing about the Petite Zia4 is that it’s travel system compatible (though this adds to the price). It’s ability to be a lightweight travel system, and then a lightweight buggy, is what could see you save money over time.
What to watch out for
I wasn’t in love with the Lime colourway but lots of others do like it, including my 3-year-old Isaac, who said it was like lettuce! If green really isn’t your thing, it does come in one other colourway. Called Moonstone, it’s an industrial grey/black number.
I think the shopping basket is too small, and there are a few detachable parts that might be misplaced, including the bumper bar. In this way, the Petite Star Zia4 suffers from a touch of over-design.
The handle height isn’t adjustable, so if you’re tall or short it’s not going to be ideal.
I found one mum who complained that her raincover ripped, but to be fair, I think all raincovers do after time.
Who is the Petite Star Zia4 buggy best for?
Mums after a compact buggy that’s light enough for use in the toddler years.
The Petite Star Zia4 is a buggy that can become a lightweight travel system, and it’s the potential cost saving it offers when these extras are purchased that’s one of the big selling points. However, if you’re tall or short, try it out before you spend any money to ensure the handle height is comfy.
