Not only does this monitor show the room temperature, there’s an alarm to alert you if the temperature goes too high. There’s an eco sleep mode, which turns the screen off and a sound trigger, which instantly turns it back on the moment your child makes a noise. Then there’s the ability to have more than one camera, so you can check on all your children.
The only thing the Samsung SEW-3030 Wireless Monitor can’t do is send your child to sleep, though the lullaby settings you can activate from your parent unit will give it a shot!
What we love
As you’d expect from Samsung the SEW-3030 is a quality product and looks fantastic. But, it certainly isn’t a case of style over substance.
Even though the screen is compact it doesn’t take away from the quality of the picture. I can see my newborn daughter Heidi clearly. In fact, I became a little addicted to watching her sleep, which is why the eco sleep mode is a great function. If your baby is sleeping soundly, the parent unit will switch into sleep mode and switch back on as soon as they make a sound. I can glance over at the screen, make sure she’s sleeping and relax without the need to disturb her.
As I’m considering putting Heidi into her elder sister’s room soon, I know this monitor will be very useful for keeping a close eye on them. And, this monitor has longevity. As my children grow up and can play independently I’ll be able to watch them in another room or even in the garden, as it’s extremely portable.
Always a plus with anything technical, the Samsung SEW-3030 Wireless Monitor is very easy to set up. Initially it looked like it might be complicated when you consider the amount of functions it has, but it really is just a matter of putting it in place and switching it on. The added features might take a while to work out, but the instructions are very simple.
The two lullaby settings mean you can settle your baby even when you’re not in the room. I found it quite useful when Heidi woke from a sleep but looked relaxed. I switched on the lullabies and it kept her happy, giving me an extra 10 minutes – always a good thing!
This video monitor is great. Even with all its functions, the Samsung SEW-3030 Wireless Monitor is simple to use and gives complete reassurance, right down to the finer details of a temperature alarm that goes off if it gets too high.
On top of all this, the Samsung SEW-3030 Wireless Monitor looks really quite cool. When visiting friends, this is a slick monitor you don’t mind taking along for peace of mind and a touch of style.
What to watch out for
You might need to check the sensors aren’t set too high, otherwise the monitor constantly makes whirring noises, which can be quite annoying.
The 100m range is less than some other monitors but I found I never needed any more than that distance so it certainly wasn’t a problem for me.
It is expensive, but worth it, considering it’s a product that could last many years.
Finally, you can get addicted to watching your children, but the same can be said of any video monitor.
