Pros

  • Large 9cm LCD screen with touch screen controls, pan/tilt/zoom remotely from parent unit, temperature gauge, two-way talkback, highlight on camera with remote on/off, 10-hour rechargeable battery, 200m range, easy to use touch screen display and menu controls, allows scanning of up to four different rooms automatically, wireless camera pack, docking station for easy charging, belt clip and clip stand

Cons

  • Parent unit kept switching off into a power saving mode, nightlight feature was not useful, zoom feature not clear

Tested with one-year-old daughter Amelia.

What’s in the box?

  • 1 x Camera unit
  • 1 x Parent unit
  • 1 x Cable with plug
  • 1 x Docking bay

What you loved

This was easy to set up and use, with clear instructions and intuitive functions on the parent unit to figure out.

It was a reasonably clear picture quality and good cable length for getting this into the correct initial position for viewing Amelia.

The most impressive feature was the panning motion which was very useful to make sure we could get the position correct when Amelia rolls around in her cot (we did not have to disturb her by moving the camera due to blind spots).

It looks sleek and did not appear out of place in both the nursery and lounge.

The voice feature was crisp and clear, the temperature gauge was accurate within 1°C (compared with mercury thermometer).

What to watch out for

The parent unit kept switching off into a power saving mode, so when sleeping and glancing up to check Amelia we had to switch this back on.

The nightlight feature was not useful, this was just a white light so a little harsh and can only be operated by the parental control. It would have been good to have a changeable colour and able to operate when in the room on the camera as well.

Zoom mode was not clear, it was not a great value addition for close viewing.

I really liked the panning mode which worked excellently, however the biggest disappointment was the continual switching off of the parent unit. The price is more than I would pay for this baby monitor.
