Tippitoes soft seat trainer, potty and step stool review

The process usually starts with the potty then moves on to the toilet seat (using the step stool to reach the toilet and the sink to wash hands after).

The clever bit is that all the parts of the Tippitoes soft seat trainer, potty and step stool fit together. Not only does it look great (if a little large), it looks a bit like a mini toilet and I’m sure this has appealed to my 2-year-old daughter Esme. The unit is made of white plastic with a choice of blue, pink or grey trimming, it is most attractive and I found within a short time she would go to it herself.

There are a few 3-in-1 toilet training packages on the market and priced at £19.99, this one isn’t the cheapest, but it is good quality and still not that expensive. Plus, as it’s a multi functional product it will last beyond potty training, and that to me helps justify the price tag.

What we love

The Tippitoes soft seat is what makes this product for me as consequently the rim of the potty is padded. It is so luxurious.

Incidently, this seat is suitable for boys and girls and is also available to purchase individually, for £9.99, if you don’t want the whole 3-piece package.

We’ve also had a go at using it as an additional seat on the actual toilet. Fitting well, it remained in place and Esme loved it as it really made her feel grown up, especially as she was able to climb onto the step-stool and sit on the toilet all by herself. This really aided Esme’s toilet training.

On the topic of that step, it works well. It’s sturdy and a good height. It doesn’t slide away either.

Using the package as a potty has been a great success and that’s not only due to the padded seat but also the fact that it’s a good size. Esme favoured this Tippitoes potty everytime when given a choice between it and the hard small alternative I’d purchased a while ago.

There are handles either side of the seat and I’m sure they help Esme feel secure for she not only holds on to them as she sits down, she often continues to hold them.

There’s an removable insert so you can empty the contents and because it’s shallow it fits under the tap easily, making rinsing straightforward (however, the fact that it’s so shallow also posed some problems).

What to watch out for

The potty insert is rather shallow. Coupled with the fact that it’s also wide, I found the journey to the toilet to flush the contents away rather haphazard. Especially as Esme likes to be involved in all aspects and help to carry it!

Esme brushed her bottom over the white padded seat and left some poo on it. Although spraying the stain with antibacterial spray did clean it off, it’s unfortunately discoloured now.
