What we love
The Tommee Tippee On The Go Insulated Big Chill we tested was the blue one with a great stars and spaceship design that Arron loved.
The insulated body is great for keeping drinks cool when you’re out for the day. It’s big enough to hold a good-sized drink for older toddlers.
It’s comforting that the cup is BPA-free. Bisphenol-A is a chemical found in plastic. Concerns have been raised about its ability to interfere with healthy growth and body function, because it mimics the effect of oestrogen in the body.
What to watch out for
The flip-up spout on the Tommee Tippee On The Go Insulated Big Chill can be fiddly to clean around. Arron has also chewed the spout, so the top is harder to clean.
While Arron also loved the flip-up spout, but I wasn’t so keen. While it’s folded down, it’s surprisingly leak-proof, but once it’s up expect leaks and spills. If you can trust your child to fold down the spout every time they put it (or throw it!) down, this won’t matter so much.
One other downside is that the design is stuck on to the cup. After a couple of weeks it started to peel off. I do put Arron’s cups in the dishwasher (top rack as instructed), so that may have sped up the process.
It’s a big cup and could prove rather large for smaller or younger toddlers. Arron has just turned 3 and didn’t find it a problem, but this cup is recommended from 12 months,
