Along with these features and its affordable £84.99 price tag (RRP £129.99 but currently on offer), it’s no surprise that the Made For Me Double Electric Breast Pump also scored Silver for the Best Electric/Battery Breast Pump at the MadeForMums Awards 2022.
Tested by
Fashion stylist and writer, Sharna Valentine, lives in London and tested the Tommee Tippee Made For Me Double Breast Pump to help exclusively breastfeed her 7-month-old daughter.
First impressions?
The Tommee Tippee Made For Me Double Electric Breast Pump comes complete in a box printed with the affirmation: ‘Note to self: you are incredible’ which I liked and gave a positive first impression. The components of the pump felt sturdy and durable, with two recognisable Tommee Tippee logo bottles, slow flow size 1 teats and milk storage lids also included. All elements are BPA/BPS free.
How easy was the Tommee Tippee Made For Me Double Electric Breast Pump to set up?
I found it relatively easy to set up the Made For Me Double Electric Breast Pump, with it taking around 10 minutes on my first try, but this improved with use. The instructions were very clear and easy to follow. The fiddlest part was smoothing the silicone cup around the horn. It can be used straight out of the box if you plug into the mains, or cord-free once it’s been charged fully. After charging the power unit, cleaning and assembling the breast pump, I was ready to go.
What’s the Tommee Tippee Made For Me Double Electric Breast Pump like to use?
The pump was very simple to use, and the instructions were clear as seen in this manufacturer's video. It did take a couple of times to be able to use the pump as a double, while I worked out the best way to hold the pumps in place. But once I’d got the hang of it, it was pretty easy.
How comfortable is the Tommee Tippee Made For Me Double Electric Breast Pump?
Like some reviews on Amazon, I found that the ‘one size fits all’ claim did not apply to me as the flanges were too big and, unfortunately, Tommee Tippee does not give the option to buy different sizes. TT have since confirmed this is due to change, with different sized flanges available to buy as an add-on soon. The silicone cup on the horn is soft and durable. It feels comfortable even though it is a little big. A pumping bra would have made a big difference in keeping the pump in place. However, MFM Awards parent tester Kristina noted that for her, “the flanges were really, really comfortable and the silicone cups made a massive difference as I didn’t feel like there was any friction on my nipple when in express mode”, proving that if fitted right, comfort is improved.
How effectively did the Tommee Tippee Made For Me Double Electric Breast Pump express?
I tried the pump at various times of the day and found that it worked most efficiently for me after the first feed of the day. The stimulation was very close to mimicking a baby and my let down came quickly. I was able to pump 180mls in 12 minutes, which was faster than I expected. Having only used single pumps previously, this pump was definitely a timesaver and I was able to build up a much needed freezer stash quickly. This view was supported by MFM Awards parent tester Carly, who noted that she “was able to express just under 4oz from one side in 8 minutes – and it was more comfortable compared to my usual hands-free pump”. However, the only downside was that due to the flanges being too big I had to hold them in place, which meant it was only possible to use both pumps when my baby was napping.
How easy to use are the settings on the Tommee Tippee Made For Me Double Electric Breast Pump?
The pump begins on stimulating massage mode, which mimics your baby’s latch. Once milk is being pumped you press the mode button to change to expressing mode, from there you can use + or – to control the suction. There are 5 massage modes, which vary in intensity, after around a minute the pump automatically moves up to the next setting and you can also manually move through the settings. I usually got to number 2 before moving to expression mode. There are 9 expressing modes, again varying in intensity. I found when using the pump as a single, I could set the expression higher but when used as a double it worked efficiently on number 2 or 3. You are unable to control each pump individually like you can with the MAM 2 in 1 Double Electric Breast pump.
Does the Tommee Tippee Made For Me Double Electric Breast Pump have a control pad or a smartphone app?
There is a LED display on the control unit but no smartphone app. It shows a timer, mode, double expressing and battery charge level. Despite it being simple enough, some reviewers on John Lewis claimed they found the digital display “difficult to use and hard to read”.
How do you rate the features of the Tommee Tippee Made For Me Double Electric Breast Pump?
The pump boasts a hygienic closed system, so no backflow of milk, making sure you save all of the milk that you pump. Perhaps due to the flange being too big, I did often find milk in the horn once I had finished pumping. The cushioned silicone cup covering the flange is a great addition, making the pump feel like it has been designed with comfort in mind, not only function. I liked that the pump fits directly onto bottles that you could then feed with straight away if needed and that it could be used as a double or single pump depending on your situation.
How portable is the Tommee Tippee Made For Me Double Electric Breast Pump?
Tommee Tippee states that the Made For Me pump “gives Mums the freedom to express anywhere” and with its lightweight design, it’s really easy to transport. However, it would have been even more favourable if it came with a carry case or bag to keep it all together. A USB cable powers the power unit, meaning you can easily charge it up on the go. Although it is portable I would not use it to express while out and about because personally, I found it wasn’t discreet enough.
How noisy is the Tommee Tippee Made For Me Double Electric Breast Pump?
Described online by Tommee Tippee as “mighty quiet”, I was expecting near silence when using the device, so I was a little disappointed by its rhythmic tones. However, John Lewis reviewers have said the pump is “very discreet” and “really quiet” compared to others on the market. For example, it’s quieter than the Medela Swing pump, but having been more familiar with the ultra quiet Elvie wearable pump, it was definitely louder.
How long does the battery last on the Tommee Tippee Made For Me Double Electric Breast Pump?
The power unit promises 90-minutes of cord free pumping before it needs to be charged via its USB cable, and it can also be plugged into the mains. I found the battery lasted as long as expected and the handy icons on the LED display let me know the battery life. A low battery icon appears when the pump has 15 minutes of power left, giving you plenty of notice. MFM Awards home tester Carly supported this view, stating that the pump could last “for a good 90 minutes on a relatively quick charge”.
How easy is the pump to clean?
There are 7 parts of the Tommee Tippee Made For Me Double Electric Pump which need washing, and while it can feel a little fiddly taking it all apart, it’s really easy to put back together again. In order to clean the pump, you need to first dismantle the handsets and wash in clean, soapy water or in the dishwasher. It then needs sterilising using either a microwave, boiling water or cold water sterilisation. I felt that cleaning the pump by hand was easier than using a dishwasher as you can make double sure that all components are clean. Amazon reviewers noted that the cleaning process can be a bit of a hassle due to its many parts, but overall, was easy enough. Tommee Tippee has a handy video to show how it’s done if needed.
How does the Tommee Tippee Made For Me Double Electric Breast Pump compare to other versions of the pump?
The Double Electric Breast Pump is part of the Tommee Tippee Made For Me range of breastfeeding products, with the Single Electric Breast Pump coming before it. The Double Pump has an updated LED display and has an extra 30-minutes of battery life once fully charged.
Compared to other breast pumps you’ve used, how does the Tommee Tippee Made For Me Double Electric Breast Pump fare?
I have previously used the Medela Swing and Elvie electric wearable, both of which are almost double the price of the Tommee Tippee Made For Me pump, so they are not really like-for-like comparisons. I did feel that the Tommee Tippee pump had better features in some ways, with the cushioned cups much softer and more comfortable than any other pump I’d tried before. It’s also really good value for money, with reviews on John Lewis agreeing that due to its price and comfort, it’s one of the best products out there.

Now you’ve tested the Tommee Tippee Made For Me Double Electric Breast Pump, what would you have wanted to know before purchasing the product?
After using the Tommee Tippee Made For Me Double Electric Breast Pump, I would have wanted to know that the flanges do not come in different sizes so a pumping bra would be essential in order to pump hands free.
Who would the Tommee Tippee Made For Me Double Electric Breast Pump be most useful for?
This double pump is perfect for mums in a hurry that need to express milk quickly and efficiently for their baby. It’s also great for those who like the option of being able to choose between using a single or double pump. If you are also looking for a breast pump to help build your milk supply, then it could also help in that way too.
Is the Tommee Tippee Made For Me Double Electric Breast Pump worth the money?
With a RRP of £129.99 and on offer on various websites at the moment for much less, I would say the Tommee Tippee Made For Me Double Electric Breast Pump is definitely reasonably priced for a double pump. While it’s not as quiet as some of its more expensive competitors, it is much cheaper than some other electric breast pumps on the market and with just as many features.

Where can I buy the Tommee Tippee Made For Me Double Electric Breast Pump?
It is available from Tommee Tippee, John Lewis, Amazon and Boots.
Overall I was impressed with the Tommee Tippee Made For Me Double Electric Breast Pump, thanks to its simple lightweight design, ease of use and 90-minute battery life. It expressed a good amount of milk quickly, fairly quietly and very comfortably. The LED display is simple to use and because of its backlit screen, can be used during the night. It does fall down on certain areas, with the lack of carry case for portability and flanges only coming in one size making it score slightly lower. However, thanks to its affordable price tag and the fact that it pumps so efficiently, the Tommee Tippee Made For Me Double Electric Breast Pump is perfect for those on-the-go mums who are exclusively expressing and need to pump a lot of milk regularly.
