5 of the best Christmas arts and crafts books for kids
Get your kids even more excited about Christmas with these easy-to-make festive decoration and crafts ideas
Nothing conveys the festive spirit like a homemade gift or card. So why not take a break from shopping and enjoy some creative time with your child? And if you’re in need of inspiration, here are our top five books to do help you out
1. Christmas decorations
Christmas Decorations is part of the Usborne ‘Make Your Own’ series. It comes complete with 50 sheets of colourful patterned paper for your child to create a selection of festive paper ornaments, such as paper chains, a wreath or an angel.
The set also has a step-by-step guide, so all you need to provide is some glue. A perfect choice for the glitterphobic. Suitable for school-age children, this kit offers a great way of keeping little hands busy before the big day.

2. 10-minute Christmas Craft Book
For anyone who (like me) have art-averse children, the 10-Minute Christmas Craft Book by Annalees Lim (published by Wayland) is ideal.
By using the easy-to-follow, comprehensive instructions, children can make an array of cards and gifts, including felt stockings, tree decorations and personalised cards.
There’s a great variety of skill level, so you should be able to find something to suit various ages and the author assures you, each project can be completed in the allotted time. Good luck!

3. Christmas Crafts to Make And Do
With more than 50 different items to make, Christmas Crafts to Make and Do from Take That Publishing has some really fun creations the whole family can get stuck into.
Every page has a list of items you will need for each task (possibly worth stocking up on gallons of glue and glitter), as well as very clear instructions on what to do when.
Some of the projects require a little bit of patience, while things dry or set, but the results should be worth the wait.

4. Kids Make Christmas
There are some fabulous things to make and bake in Pia Deges’ Kids Make Christmas. This is a collection of 40 festive projects, which includes a simple cookie recipe, felt work, decorated candles and much more – many of the items would make fantastic gifts for doting grandparents.
There is a mixture of skill levels and unlike many in this genre it takes the making to New Year’s Eve with instructions on how to create confetti and party hats.

5. 25 Crafts For Christmas
Christina Goodings’ 25 Crafts for Christmas is a wonderful book for the crafty family (or indeed, if you aspire to be one). There is an activity for every day of Advent, offering a charming way to mark the Christmas countdown.
Many of the items are easy to create and include icicle bells, cards and festive mementos. Make sure you have a flick through first, as there are a few things you may need to stock up on, aside from the usual glue and glitter.
A great idea and a perfect way to take time out from the pre-Christmas bustle. Good value too.
