  • Basmati rice
(1 large handful per serving plus one for the pan)
  • 1 Can of tuna
  • ½pint Milk
  • 2tbsp Plain flour
  • 1tbsp Butter
  • 25-50g Mild Cheddar cheese

    Method

    • step 1

Drain tin of tuna and then fork the tuna flakes into the bottom of a casserole dish.

    • step 2

Prepare the cheese sauce. Grate cheese, approx 25 to 50g but more or less can be added depending on taste. Melt 1 tbsp butter in a pan. Add 2tbsp of plain flour and cook on a low heat for about 2 mins to make a roux. Remove from heat and gradually stir in 1/2 pint milk. Return to heat and bring to boil, stiring all the time. Simmer for about 2 mins and stir in the cheese.

    • step 3

Prepare the rice. (Boil in the bag rice is easiest!)

    • step 4

Pour 1/3 of cheese sauce over the tuna flakes. Then layer rice and remaining cheese sauce over the tuna. Grated cheese can also be added to the top of the dish.

    • step 5

Cook in the oven at 180 for about 20 mins and then serve.
