Sleepy Time podcast episode 7: Soothing anxious thoughts for 5 to 8 year olds
Mindfulness expert Suzy Reading's gentle body and breathing techniques will help your child get back to sleep if they've woken unexpectedly
This podcast is really helpful if your child wakes from sleep for whatever reason, and is unable to drift off again.
The narrator will encourage your little one to focus on diferent parts of their body in turn – feet, ankles, tummy, shoulders– all the way up to their head and face.
They'll be asked to think about how their mattress and their bed sheets feel, so they're really in the moment.
They'll also be asked to focus on their breathing and, every time their mind wanders, will gently be reminded to come back to their body to keep them in a relaxed state that helps ease any anxiety.
