Review
The Manor has a fairytale feel, with sweeping gravel driveways and turrets. But it’s the Thai influence that sets the tone for an indulgent spa weekend, with shimmering pools, soothing music and delicious Thai cuisine. Being told to wear our bathrobes and slippers around the Manor (even in the restaurant for breakfast) was the icing on the cake.
There is a warm, shallow pool separate from the hydrotherapy facilities (which isn’t recommended for pregnant women). Poolside shoes are on offer to avoid getting your slippers soggy, along with towels, loungers and attentive staff, all creating a leisurely afternoon. There's a mini sauna, steam room and jacuzzi for friends or your partner, too. Meanwhile, you can enjoy the twinkling ceiling lights and calming atmosphere.
My treatment, with a Thai-trained therapist, was a luscious way to pass an hour, with its scrumptious, VIP feel. The 100%-certified organic Jojoba massage oil was absorbed deeply into my skin, and the therapist was conscious of comfortable positions for a mum-to-be. Pillows were perfectly plumped to support my back, with most of the treatment administered with me lying on my side. Sore ankles, shoulders and lower back are the areas targeted, along with a soothing scalp massage.
Dinner in the French bistro Le Blaireau contained a well-rounded mix of meat, fish and vegetarian options. A pianist creates the background music while you dine. The Thai restaurant is ideal for breakfast with a tempting mix of healthy and indulgent options. You get great views of the grounds here, which are perfect for a stroll on a sunny day. A lovely weekend for mums-to-be and their mums.
