Sleepy Time podcast Episode 3: Balloon belly breathing techniques for 2 to 5 year olds
Balloon belly breathing at bedtime will help your child calm down and unwind after a long day, and encourage them drift off to sleep more easily...
It's important to relax and unwind after a busy day – for children as well as adults. Balloon belly breathing is all about relaxed breathing, to make you feel calm and let go of the day's stresses and anxieties.
This podcast will help your child to focus on their breathing in order to calm and ease them so they can drift into sleep.
Ask them to have a favouite bedtime toy handy, too (if they want to), as some of the exercises in this podcast involve having a cuddly friend to squeeze and put on their tummy, as they practise their breathing techniques.
Our Sleepy Time podcast, made in partnership with wellbeing and mindfulness experts In The Moment magazine, helps children aged 2 to 5 years, and 5 to 8 years, become settled and peaceful sleepers. Exercises and meditations have been created by psychologist and yoga teacher Suzy Reading, and will build into a toolkit that your child will be able to learn and use by themselves over time. Meditation expert Gemma David of The Quiet Heart is our soft-voiced podcast narrator.
