Sleepy Time podcast episode 5: Settling down to sleep for 5 to 8 year olds
Techniques to help your 5 to 8 year old expend their remaining energy while lying in bed after a busy day - and settle down to restful sleep
If you have a child who struggles to settle to sleep after a busy day, this podcast could be just what they need. It will help them to connect with their body, doing gentle exercises while they lie in bed, ready for a good night's sleep.
They'll draw circles with their feet, hug their knees and breath slowly in and out - all in an effort to expend the energy they have in their bodies, before settling down for the night.
Finally, they'll be encouraged to 'melt' into their bed in whichever position feels comfortable and to focus on their breathing: to simply rest, until sleep comes.
